So here I am … on the night before The Domus Academy opens its doors … er … or rather its dining table for “school”.  Wanted to get some thoughts down about the year ahead.

We are SO organised this year.  I have put it down to the “nesting instinct” since I am expecting student #4 to make his/her appearance in May 09.  In anticipation, I have drawn up week-by-week plans, hour-by-hour schedules, booklists, checklists … we have bought our supplies and our books and NEW SHELVES … punched holes and sorted and filed.  Things are looking GREAT!

BUT … I am a fabulous planner but not a very good executor.  Fortunately, the Good Lord in His wisdom, has blessed us with a meticulous and sequential first-born!  The perfect complement to her random parents.  [Note: the categorisation of learning styles into sequential and random is from the book The Way They Learn by Cynthia Tobias.]

Which explains why we have done what we have done to get ready for the year.  We plan, Alethea executes!  PERFECT!  So stay tuned while we live out our plans in 2009 and we’ll keep you updated along the way!

I plan to write a series of articles about curriculum planning, specifically about what and how we have planned for the year.  Stay tuned for that too!
